A man in Virginia accused of murdering a 38-year-old man remains at large more than a week after a fatal shooting, police say.

An alert was issued by the Newport News Police Department as they attempt to track down Paul Joseph Mulleano, 39, who is wanted in connection to the fatal shooting of Jave Irvin Edwards in late January.

Shortly after 7:45 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 27, officers from the agency were called to the 1100 block of 35th Street to investigate reports of shot fired, where they found Edwards suffering from at least one gunshot wound.

He was rushed to an area hospital, where he died from his injuries.

According to police, Mulleano was identified as a suspect in the homicide, though he has remained elusive to police as of Tuesday, Feb. 6.

Mulleano was described as being a Black man with hazel eyes, who is approximately 5-foot-11, weighing 145 pounds - possibly with pink and black braids. Officials also noted that he also goes by the alias "Goo-Goo."

He is wanted for second-degree murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and other weapons offenses.

Anyone with information regarding "Goo-Goo" or his whereabouts has been asked to contact police in Virginia by calling (757) 247-2500.
